There’s a tech idea around every corner

Edmonton’s tech ventures start locally, but their positive effects can be seen on a global scale. From humble beginnings in makeshift basement offices or co-working spaces to growing and scaling inside one of the city’s tech incubators, Edmonton’s local tech companies can be found all across the city. Founders and startups seek collaboration and support and as such have established tech clusters along Edmonton’s innovation corridor which stretches from NAIT through the downtown core to the University of Alberta.

Post-Secondary & Education

Edmonton is a city of innovative thinkers renowned for its knowledge and world-class research, with several post-secondary institutions making new discoveries every day.

University of Alberta

Partnering with EEDC to form TEC, the university hosts world-class research and facilitates its commercialization. The U of A has been ranked one of the world’s top university business incubators since 2013. UAlberta bolsters Edmonton’s Innovation sector through its business, engineering, and tech & research-based programs.

MacEwan University

MacEwan University encourages innovation and tech through its Social Innovation Institute. The program offers tools, mentorship, and connections to ensure that innovation is nurtured on campus. MacEwan is well known in Edmonton’s innovation sector for its Design and Marketing & Communication programs.


NAIT offers polytechnic education and programs that are future-focused and keep a finger on the pulse of the industry. Their Productivity and Innovation Center, launched in 2018, helps businesses create industry solutions through innovation and applied research. NAIT is highly reputed in the city’s innovation hub for its courses focused on health, science, technology and the environment.
